AGE-RELATED CARDIOVASCULAR AND RESPIRATORY DISEASES

Venue: Didactic Centre of the Medical University of Łódź, ul. Pomorska 251, room: 1.20

Workshop chairmen: Prof. Maciej Banach, Assoc. Prof. Wojciech Piotrowski

The workshop is devoted to selected problems of cardiovascular (CV) and respiratory diseases in the elderly. The special emphasis will be put on common pathogenetic pathways between heart and lung pathologies, with special regard to systemic inflammation. 20 eminent researchers, coming from most famous academic institutions all over the world will give lectures on epidemiology, pathogenesis and monitoring of CV and respiratory diseases. Practical aspects will be stressed in all lectures. The impact of air pollution on CV and respiratory morbidity, the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of these diseases, new diagnostic methods are only the examples of proposed topics. The lectures will be grouped in thematic sessions, which will be arranged in “cardiovascular day” and “respiratory day”. The workshop is dedicated to all professionals – physicians, other health service providers, and researchers interested in different medical  aspects of ageing.

Workshops
March 27, 2014

This second HARC workshop will be a perfect opportunity to meet prominent experts and experienced clinicians within the field of preventive gerontology and geriatrics.

Presented lectures will concentrate around the most actual topics of healthy ageing (exercise, nutrition, metabolic processes), so called “geriatrics giants” (cognitive functions, delirium, sarcopenia, frailty), and challenges in geriatric care (hypertension, heart failure, multi-morbidity, iatrogenic diseases, appropriate drug prescribing, information and communication technologies, ethical aspects, rehabilitation). Each state-of-the-art lecture will be followed by questions and answers, discussion with participants, and concluded with take-home-messages. Moreover, during “young investigators poster session” there will be a possibility to present original data and discuss the results with scientific leaders. We believe that the workshop will also create the unique possibility to initiate international collaboration and will result with future research projects.

Please note that we are looking for short summaries of reports of original research, which will be presented in a poster session (after acceptance by the Scientific Committee). Selected abs-tracts will be presented orally. Short summaries should be sent by email harc@umed.pl

For more details please contact Workshop Office: harc@umed.pl or martyna.glogowska@umed.lodz.pl

Dear HARC Workshop Guests.
Due to the large interest in the 1 st Workshop the additional registration has been opened. Current registration does not include lunch.

This two-day event will be a perfect opportunity to meet world-class experts within the field of dementia and nutritional sciences . Lectures grouped with 4 tracks (early detection of cognitive decline, nutrition and cognitive decline pathogenesis, diet, nutrition and body composition assessment and, finally, nutritional and diet interventions for cognitive decline and other disorders) will be of a state-of-the-art type with questions and answers following each session. Moreover, there will be a possibility to present original data (posters and some oral presentations spots ) and discuss the results with scientific leaders. Hopefully, workshop will also create an occasion to refresh acquaintances and establish new ones in hope for building up an international co-operations and research projects in the future.
