May 23-24, 2014 Lodz, Poland

www.harc.umed.pl

AGE-RELATED CARDIOVASCULAR AND RESPIRATORY DISEASES

Venue: Didactic Centre of the Medical University of Łódź, ul. Pomorska 251, room: 1.20

Workshop chairmen: Prof. Maciej Banach, Assoc. Prof. Wojciech Piotrowski

The workshop is devoted to selected problems of cardiovascular (CV) and respiratory diseases in the elderly. The special emphasis will be put on common pathogenetic pathways between heart and lung pathologies, with special regard to systemic inflammation. 20 eminent researchers, coming from most famous academic institutions all over the world will give lectures on epidemiology, pathogenesis and monitoring of CV and respiratory diseases. Practical aspects will be stressed in all lectures. The impact of air pollution on CV and respiratory morbidity, the role of oxidative stress in the pathogenesis of these diseases, new diagnostic methods are only the examples of proposed topics. The lectures will be grouped in thematic sessions, which will be arranged in “cardiovascular day” and “respiratory day”. The workshop is dedicated to all professionals – physicians, other health service providers, and researchers interested in different medical  aspects of ageing.
