I Conference Geriatrics in practice of primary care physicians

On September 24th, 2015 the first conference for health professionals "Geriatrics in practice of primary care physicians" was held. It was organized by the Research Centre for Healthy Ageing (Healthy Aging Research Center). The conference was attended by over 100 primary care physicians, nurses and physiotherapists who meet geriatric issues every day. 

The conference was opened by Prof. Tomasz Kostka, a national consultant in the field of geriatrics, who presented lecture on sarcopenia. During the conference the problems of rehabilitation and prevention of fractures the elderly, the distinct treatment of allergic diseases and respiratory diseases in seniors were discussed. Participants of the conference were also interested in depressive disorders, sleep disorders and cardiac problems, renal and diabetes. The conference ended with a lecture on polypharmacy and principles to reduce the doses of drugs taken by elderly patients. The next conference for primary care physicians, nurses and physiotherapists is scheduled for the first half of 2016.
