New researcher at the Department of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotic Disorders, Medical University of Łódź

Adam Wysokiński was born in Wyrzysk (Poland) in 1977. He graduated medicine with honors at Medical University of Bydgoszcz in 2004 and started his PhD thesis in 2006 at the Department of Psychiatry at Medical University of Łódź. He defended his thesis titled “Brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) and neurotrophin 3 (NT-3) serum blood levels, cognitive functioning and level of experienced stress in patients with schizophrenia-like psychoses untreated and treated with quetiapine” in 2009 and earned a PhD title.
Dr. Wysokiński continued his clinical and research career at the Department of Old Age Psychiatry and Psychotic Disorders, Medical University of Łódź. Since December 2013 he has become a member of Prof. Iwona Kłoszewska research team as a researcher in the HARC project.
Dr. Wysokiński has an experience in studies on metabolic abnormalities induced by psychotropic medications and he is utilizing techniques such as body impedance analysis and dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry.
Dr. Wysokiński is a first author or co-author of 25 original and 21 review papers and he participated in several national and international conferences. He is also the author of a monograph on weight gain induced by psychotropic medications.
