Aleksandra Piechota-Polańczyk as a new HARC researcher.
Aleksandra Piechota-Polańczyk was born in Lodz (Poland) in 1983. She graduated public health at Medical University of Lodz in 2007 and started her PhD thesis the same year at the Department of Cardiovascular Physiology under Prof. Anna Gorąca. She defended her thesis titled “Endothelin-1 in oxidative stress” in 2011 and earned a PhD title with distinction in medicine (specialization medical biology).
Ms. Polańczyk continued her scientific career leaving for a post-doc position in the research group of Prof. Ihor Huk at the Department of Surgery, Medical University of Vienna (Austria). Since December 2013 she has become a member of Prof. Marek Kowalski research team as a researcher in the HARC project.
Ms. Polańczyk has an experience in molecular studies of genes and proteins and she is utilizing techniques such as flow cytometry, RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, RT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA assay. She also performs in vitro experiments of primary cell cultures and in vivo experiments on mice and rats.
Ms. Polańczyk is a first author or co-author of 18 original and 4 review papers and she participated in eight national and international conferences. Ms. Polańczyk earned three Medical University Rector’s awards for scientific achievements and a support grant for Innovative Studies of Young Scientist during her PhD studies.
