SUMMARY OF THE HARC PROJECT DURING CONFERENCE “ACTIVE LIFE AND HEALTHY AGING IN ŁODZ AND REGION”

_MG_1371_895773On the November 29th this year the conference "Active living and healthy aging in Lodz and the region” was held. The aim of the meeting was to summarize the project Healthy Ageing Research Centre (HARC) carried out by the Medical University of Lodz between 2013 and 2016 and to present a new initiative - Lodz Reference Centre established in the framework of the European Innovation Partnership for Active and Healthy Ageing (European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing, EIP AHA).

_MG_1358_916294The conference was opened by Prof. Radzisława Kordek, Rector of the Medical University of Lodz, who congratulated all the scientists involved in the project, and especially Prof. Marek L. Kowalski -and Prof. Lucyna Wozniak. Prof. Kordek recalled that HARC opened to the university new prospects in the field of active living and healthy aging, e.g., among others, membership of the Medical University of Lodz in the international consortium EIT Health, which brings together more than 140 European partners.

_MG_1504_776019The conference was attended by a representative of the European Commission, Dr. Grzegorz Ambroziewicz and independent experts evaluating the project - prof. Joao Malva, University of Coimbra (Coimbra, Portugal), Prof. Salvatore Panico, Federico II University (Naples, Italy) and Dr. Benoit Dugue, University of Poitiers (Poitiers, France), who according to confirmed the success of the university and prepared a series of recommendations for ensuring the sustainability of the HARC Project.

Project Healthy Ageing Research Centre (HARC), funded under the 7th Framework Programme of the European Commission (REGPOT), focused research teams at the Medical University of Lodz in dealing with issues of health and diseases of the elderly. During the conference Prof. Marek L. Kowalski summed up the achievements of research teams involved in the project. He also assured that although HARC project, funded by the European Union comes to an end, it does not mean the end of the work of the Healthy Ageing Research Centre. Researchers at the Medical University of Lodz will develop international_MG_1378_379475 cooperation (EIT Health, the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing) and regional activities in this area in cooperation with both research centers, innovative companies operating in the development of products, technologies and organizational solutions lifting quality of life and well-being of the elderly, as well as the social partners, in order to diagnose the needs of this group of our society.

In the second part of the meeting Lodz Reference Centre and projects implemented by the consortium partners and Lodz universities were presented. The partner of the conference was the Marshal Office of Lodz.
